After 30 days you can get the basic version that still scans your PC. I actually purchased the 2 year for $40 and its better to me than Norton or McAfee. But the trail version is still great. Like I said you get all features for the first month.

All are good but I prefer AVG. I run older P-III computers and it is a little gentler on resources.

Don't forget to get windows defender and another antiSpyware program to get the protection complete.
I use Avast Antivirus Home Edition. It's completely free and updateable whenever new viruses are found. Can't remember where you get it from but just Google it.
