You can stay on secure on the internet for Free.

I've used AVG Ant-virus for years and swear buy it. No Anti-virus is full proof, but AVG is free and uses small CPU load. You can download AVG here.

You should also run a Firewall and Anti Spy ware software as well.

I use all the above programs and install them on all the machines I work on with the owner's permission of course. I only run into problems when owner's don't keep them up to date.
